Nice Long Sunday Sail

We took ReOrient out  for a nice long Sunday sail yesterday.  Left Five Mile River around 11:30, getting back around 3:00, staying on just a few tacks most of the trip.  The wind was good for the most part with some luffing going on from time to time.

Here's a picture of the three lovely ladies having some girl time on the way in ... I think they were really up there to keep away from the fly's that invaded us halfway through the sail.

Zeiglers Cove

The four of us took ReOrient out for a short sail Sunday morning then stopped for lunch at Zeiglers Cove.  We got there and picked up a mooring just before the rush.  Very pretty but a lot of boats looking for moorings.  Since we forgot to take pictures, here are a few I found on the web ... on a quieter day.

Maiden Sail

We took ReOrient out for her maiden sail this afternoon.  She's moored on Five Mile River, no more than a few minutes from the sound in Rowayton.  The engine starts without choking it and runs smooth ... really smooth.  Once we got her out into the sound, we put up the main and then the jib and she is a pleasure to sail.  We had a good wind for the first sail, not too strong, but strong enough to get a feel for her.

The sheet we used for the jib does not seem long enough, so that's one change and there are a few other minor adjustments that we'll make, but already looking forward to the next sail.

Teak, Teak and More Teak!

The railings are now being refinished and secured.  Before and after.  Looking good Hank!

Drinks at Dusk

OK, so ReOrient is tied to a slip at the boat yard, but she still looks like a pretty nice place to spend some time in the evening.

In the Water

Hank took a few shots after Paul and crew put ReOrient into the water.  The Stuffing Box and Center Board leaked a bit at first, but all seems OK.  More work to do on the Mast tomorrow and they will also try and start the engine and we suspect replace the Impellers.

It it possible the maiden sail (or at least the maiden movement to the mooring) is the 2nd or 3rd of August?
